Brandy VanDeWalle

UNL - NE Extension
Extension Educator
Geneva, NE
Brandy VanDeWalle started her Nebraska Extension career in 2005. Located in Fillmore County, she started as a crops educator reaching farmers through irrigation and risk management programming. With her teaching experience in agriculture education, she transitioned to an 80% youth development and 20% cropping systems appointment.
Key programming engages youth in discovery and exploration around agriculture with a focus in the crop sciences to develop workplace skills and increase awareness of careers in the STEM areas. This is accomplished through coordination of the Nebraska Innovative Youth Corn Challenge, Nebraska & Regional Youth Crop Scouting Competitions, ag literacy festivals, strong partnerships with Nebraska Agriculture Education instructors, and the Nebraska Department of Education, among others. Another strength is teaching leadership development related topics and coordination of the Farmers & Ranchers College.
Her husband, Kurt is an agricultural education instructor and they enjoy spending time with their two daughters, McKenzie and Meredith.
